Galvanized After Weave (GAW) wire mesh and fence will last for years. After the wires are woven together, the resultant mesh passes through a bath of molten zinc. The wires are completely sealed and protected from rust and corrosion are by the thick galvanizing. The products in this catagory are usually lighter weight  hexagonal netting and small mesh hardware cloth. These meshes and fences are particularly useful for bird pens and enclosures, problem wildlife exclusion, crayfish and crab traps and other applications where rust prevention and long life are desired.
